THE MIRABEL GARDENS OF SALZBURG
This was the setting for the famous "Do re mi" song and dance from the 1965 move, "The Sound of Music." We watched the movie on the bus while traveling to Salzburg. Some loved it; some did not. But it's such a strong part of the contemporary identity of the city that we saw Asian tourists singing the song in the garden! Our knowledgeable guide, Gertrude, said more Japanese and Chinese tourists buy the movie than do Americans or Austrians!
